Recent experiments into Body Image Distortion in Photography conducted at the Department of Psychology at Liverpool University (UK) have utilised the rarely used techniques of orthostereoscopic photography and life size image projection. The experiments were designed to determine whether perceived body image varied depending on the photographic techniques used in the image capture. Of particular relevance to this workshop was the remarkable sense of presence reported by many of the experimental participants during the 3D stimulus presentations. The image capture and projection methods used for this series of experiments will be demonstrated here. Attendees will be able to experience at first hand the almost holographic quality of the stereographs using conventional polarising glasses.
